Golden Arrow Events & Design_Pink Haunted Mansion Halloween Party

Pink Haunted Mansion Halloween Party

By | Halloween, Styled Shoot | No Comments

During a visit to Texas, I enjoyed brunch with the owner of Daydream Society and she gave us her new whimsical Halloween collection. The first thing that came to mind was the “Haunted Mansion” ride from Disneyland. The flying ghost reminded us of our favorite childhood ride at the happiest place on earth. So, throughout our design we incorporated cute quotes from the haunted mansion and playful accents that represented the spooky attraction. The playful color palette made the party extra sweet!

Golden Arrow Events & Design - Modern Lego Birthday

Modern Lego Birthday

By | Birthday, Events | No Comments

Hands down, kid’s parties are my favorite celebrations to design.  So when my nieces and nephew’s birthdays are coming up, I always want to put my spin on the theme they have in mind.  When my adorable nephew, Collin told me he wanted “Lego” party, the look on my eyes said it all, because I was thinking of all the primary colors that comes along with Legos.   The first step to put A golden arrow spin was to come up with the a color scheme; settled on black, white, sage.  This color palette is super modern but still perfect for a boy’s 9th birthday.

From there we started building all the elements to create the most epic celebration for my little man!  I enlisted my the favorite calligrapher and graphic designer friend @pirouettepapercompany to create this mud cloth inspired backdrop.  This pattern is simple but made a statement.  Next up paper goods,  these @ohhappyday grid plates have been on my list to use but was waiting for the perfect event to use them!  Balanced out this setup with a solid black napkin and @sophisiplate black and white forks.  We searched high and low for a modern sage green cup to tie into tabletop setup, no luck.  So my sister, Summer the DIY queen created these rad cups.  To finish off the design, I had my talented laser cut friend @creativeamme to make these awesome Lego face place cards and stir-sticks.  These elements tied the tabletop together and the kid’s got to take them home as a keepsake.  For the finishing touches I sourced Legos and décor from Amazon, these website has been a lifesaver during the pandemic.  Another DIY was needed to create these custom sage green Legos.  Spraying painting these little guys wasn’t the easiest task, however the final product was a wow!  These sage pieces made me not scared of Legos colors no longer. A birthday wouldn’t be a birthday without a jaw dropping cake right?!?  The brilliant team at @sweetnsaucyshop made these picture-perfect desserts, which are just as much yummy as pretty.  My nephew selected this Lego face which totally expresses his funny side and the way he looks at his Aunties when we up to one of our fun pranks.  My family is obsessed with @pacificorganicpops and her mini cart is definitely the way to go for small gatherings.  We love that they use fresh organic ingredients, my favorite flavor is Pineapple Chili Lime.  Final touches were our balloon installations on pop cart and backdrop.  The sage balloons were a custom color we created, loved how they paired up with the colors.  Much love to @nolafontanezphotography for capturing all the detail and my handsome boy.  We will treasure this celebration for many years!

Chasing Rainbows Birthday

By | Birthday, Events | No Comments

When I was coming up with a design concept for my niece’s birthday I really wanted her to continue seeing positivity in the world.   So I started thinking of things that she loved and could relate to my message, “RAINBOWS” are her favorite.  So I came up with “Chasing Rainbows”  because it provides a strong message to always keep positive and see the best in any situation.  At the end of every rainbow is a pot of gold a “beautiful lesson that made you stronger.”   But of course we couldn’t keep to the traditional primary color scheme of a rainbow,  needed to add a chic spin to it!  So we went with muted tones which complimented the modern boho vibe we love.

When I am in need of awesome paper goods, I always visit Ellie and Piper Co..  They offer the best selections.  These terrazzo metallic plates were the perfect addition to the tabletop and added that pop of shimmer every little girl loves.  The rattan chargers were actually mirrors that I scored in the dollar spot at Target, definitely will be putting these to use for future events…favorite new item to our inventory.  When designing I wanted to bring in the rainbow element very subtly and so I created these DIY yarn rainbows.  Creating those rainbows was a labor of love and tons of fun, I had the pleasure of putting them together with my sister and niece.  Creative Amme always brings my ideas to life, the rainbow stir-sticks were a dream come true.  The rope element was the perfect boho touch to the super modern paper goods.

The balloon installation was the perfect backdrop to the tablescape.  When creating I didn’t want to represent the typical arch shape of a rainbow, so layering the colors gave it that feel.

When thinking of the cake design, I wanted to have modern boho feel with a rainbow touch.  I was inspired by yarn art that had meticulous detail, so I gave the image to Amriel.  I would have to say Amriel Cakes nailed my vision while giving the cake her own spin.  Her dessert are beautiful to look at and delicious to eat!

When you are forced to have a “Shelter in Place” birthday celebration, a #MINNImesh was in order for the littles to have a ball.  I love that Minidip and Mesh Kids Co. have paired up to create these fashionable inflatable ball pits that are perfect for any age kiddo to have hours of fun at home.   No virus is going to take away our fun.

Golden Arrow Events & Design - Dragons Love Tacos Birthday

Dragons Love Tacos Birthday

We were so excited when our client asked us design her son’s third birthday, based on the book “Dragons Love Tacos.”  This book is a super cute story, but the illustration speak to my design eye!  Modern patterns, simplicity and primary color palette; is a win for me.  First step of this design process was finding a fun and colorful color palette, that would make for cheerful statement.  This color scheme would bring the pages of the story to life throughout this beautiful backyard.  For the kid’s tablescape we selected Meri Meri’s hexagon mint and red plates and matching cups.  Creative Amme’s laser cut stir-sticks always complete the look and add a personalized detail. To channel the adorable dragon characters from the book, we used a ridged napkin.  Also did a little DIY detail to the forks by adding ridges.  The fun mini taco piñatas were the perfect addition to bring everything to together.  Down the center of the table I placed honeycombs, these definitely provide a fiesta vibe and pop of color.  Behind the kid’s table we created a lavish balloon garland, to highlight this adorable area.

The dessert area was the focal point of the party and needed to make a statement.  Using Archive Rentals chevron wall and yellow dresser created that grand moment we needed.  The red laser cut wording with the fun ridge detail was a great way to tie in the theme.  To highlight this area we created a playful balloon garland with a fringe installation.  Sugar Crush Sweets desserts were the cherry on top for this area.  The attention to detail brought the pages of this book to life through her incredibly adorable desserts.

The most important thing to our clients was that they wanted the adults to equally enjoy themselves as the kiddos. So cocktails were in order!   Our friend’s at Punch Catering created craft cocktails to fit the occasion  “Nacho Average Mule” and “Spec-Taco-Cular Paloma.” Their service and setup is 5 stars!  A Dragons Love Tacos party wouldn’t be complete without a taco bar.  The ambiance was created by a fantastic mariachi duo from Mariachi Romanza.

The kiddos all had a blast building a stuffed dragon from Little Artist Party and getting air brush tattoo of the books famous characters from We Adorn You LA.

This birthday bash definitely was “Nacho Average” birthday celebration!

Monster Mash

When two event stylist get together to throw a Halloween party you know it’s going to be epic! And what’s more epic than a Monster Mash Bash?!  Well, really nothing! Lol

We couldn’t have a monster mash without Frankenstein and his bride! These kiddos were in full character and I’m sure the fabulous makeup done by Makeup By Tiffany helped with that!

For this shoot we didn’t want to use the typical Halloween colors, instead we opted for pastels with a touch of black to keep it a hauntingly good time! Glamfete created a magical fringe backdrop, Michelle Rogers Styling and I added a  pastel balloon garland, and Mustard Seed Florals adorned it with her beautiful florals. Create-A-Party Rentals had the perfect tables and chairs for our little monsters. Ellie and Piper Co. had the cutest partyware selections for us to choose from. Creative Amme is our go to for incredible one of a kind signage! Amriel Cakes made the most incredible Frankenstein cake!  It was the center of attention at the kids table.

No monster mash party is complete without a cotton candy cart!  Twisted Sister brought all the spooky fun with her cotton candy adorned with creepy crawlers. What’s on the menu you ask?  Well a mash potato bar of course! We included all the yummy fixings!

We hope you love our monster mash as much as we loved designing it 🙂

Modern + Boho Easter Party

By | Styled Shoot | 2 Comments

Easter has always been a cheerful celebration for our family!  So when designing this Easter shoot, we wanted it to represent the colorful celebrations Sabrina and I treasure in our hearts.  In keeping in tone with Easter’s traditional color scheme, we kept with soft pastel tones and pops of orange to add that carrot love throughout.   A party can’t start without a fabulous invitation, Double Dipped Calligraphy created a gorgeous invitation suite with fun modern egg pattern.  We enlisted Britney owner of Relevant and Raw to design/create one of her amazing masterpieces. I would say she out did herself with this outstanding 11 feet hanging yarn installation and playful backdrop, which is one of my favorite details of the entire shoot.    Easter wouldn’t be complete without stunning blooms, the ladies at Spell Bundle created gorgeous arrangements.  The painted palm fronds were one of my favorite details. It added a fun and playful touch to the florals.  Every holiday needs delicious desserts, right?  Grace and Honey Cakes has the most delectable desserts with her homemade preserves. Not only are they yummy, but each dessert is exquisitely decorated.  Sweet Salvage Rentals nailed it again with this stunning setup, we always love playing with her incredible inventory.  To add a fun personalized touch to our tabletop, we incorporated Studio Noel’s adorable personalized bunny tags.  One of my favorite Easter traditions is finding the perfect outfit and accessories.  No need to look any further, The Day Dream Republic has the most adorable Easter accessories…from their signature floral bunny ears to fabulous bunny berets.  So thankful for Halli Makennah Photography for capturing every detail so beautifully.

Stay Golden,

Melissa
